The 2018 edition! If you know me you know how much I love vintage… and I’d like to think I’m a pro at thrifting after spending half of my life doing it. What I love about it is the hunt and getting to find and own one-off pieces that can really invigorate your wardrobe and look. And it’s good for your wallet too! Check out my favourite spots for vintage and thrifting fun in both Malta and Gozo below and who knows… maybe we’ll bump into each other. Needless to say – I’ll be focusing on clothes, shoes, bags and other accessories but most of these places also have furniture, décor, books and more.
The Charity Shop (Msida)
A tiny place full of hidden gems. This place has a great selection of checked shirts, leather goods and funky outerwear. Boasts a large amount of men’s suits. Take your time to look through the mountains of clothes to find the goodies! P.S. – It’s under new management, and much cleaner and easier to go through.
Address: Turn right exiting the Junior College gate and walk all the way to the corner of the fence to see this spot across the street.
The Charity Shop (San Gwann)
A big space with loads of clothes and shoes. They seem to always have great lackets and leather pieces around whenever I drop by so if that’s what you’re looking for – check this place out!
Address: Up the street from HSBC in San Gwann.
Hands down the best place for vintage goods in Gozo. The amount of superb coats and jackets I found here is incredible. The iconic brown coat in the featured image above? Yup this is the place.
Address: Turn Exit St. George’s square in Victoria and make your way down the street towards Abela’s Pharmacy and Ritz, and turn and enter the arcade on your right.
Huge space full of antiques, clothes, shoes and accessories. The jackets here are usually really special pieces. I always seem to come across vintage Adidas pieces when I visit this place. They also have a lot of shoes! Their pricing logic is a bit questionable at times though.
Address: Across the street from LIDL in Santa Venera.
Paws 4 A Cause
Similar to the previous entry is its cousin spot in Sliema. This place always seems to have more shirts and blazers than its Santa Venera counterpart.
Address: Down the street from St. James Hospital in Sliema.
Sunday car boots in Gozo
A perfect Sunday morning date for me usually consists of thrifting around these bazaars. You’d be surprised how many incredible pieces I found here, namely shirts, jackets, sunglasses and the occasional hat.
Address: Every other Sunday either at Victoria’s car park (behind Duke’s) or at Marsalforn’s car park.
Sunday car boot in Birgu
Very similar to the car boots held in Gozo but on a much bigger scale. You will find a lot more here but you also need to hunt more. It’s very easy to miss out on the gems if you don’t look well enough so make sure to examine all the stalls and goodies.
Address: Inside the ground next to the bus terminal in Birgu.
